Post Sumo Blues

October 1, 2017 by admin

This happens four times per year.

I am late to watching the quarterly sumo tournament. It always creeps up on me.

Then I am days behind, and I will mini-binge watch it, but never quite catching up to the current day.

Because I want it to extend into the future. To go on forever with the upsets and the excitement and the nail-biting matches.

But then suddenly it is done, and I ration out the remaining days. Inevitably the drama pushes me forward to the last day.

And then a champion wins, hoists that trophy, and the YouTube channel is quiet.

The fifteen day drama is done. No more questions about upsets or streaks or unimaginable throws.

All I am left with is waiting for the next several months to pass, and the upcoming basho to start, and for me to get started late again.

Yes, I am an unrepentant sumo fan.
